~~
Susan Hoyt Taft, 26 February 1990
Page 2
Approach
Before proceeding with the remainder of this proposal, a brief discussion of our
experience regerC m t rehensive Plan Update work for Falcon Heightsp explain our
approach to th p
The value of a comprehensive plan comes from realization of the goals established
within it. For this to happen, the City's Staff and decision makers must understand the
Comprehensive Plan and be very familiar with its contents in order to ensure that its
poL'cies are implemented. In short, the plan must be used. While it is imperative that
the information of the Plan be thorough and accurate and its goals and policies be
insightful, it must also be concise and easy to work with, or it tends to be forgotten.
For this reason, we encourage that the City consider including maps, tables, and other
graphic devices in the format of the Comprehensive Plan Update to make it more
readable. This format would be especially helpful in the inventory section of the
report, where utility locations, existing land uses, roadways, and demographic information
is presented. Since revising this information was already part of the Scope of this
project and since conditions have probably not changed significantly, improving the
format of the report would be relatively inexpensive.
With this in mind, we offer the attached proposal for professional planning services.
Sincerely
DAHLG`Et_ EN, SHARDLOW, A^ND UBAi'v, INC.
~/' N ~ ~/ '
~~ ~~ ,
Timothy G.
