Nevertheless, the <br />c~SUltant was able to establish specific r~mPS~dations and priorities for <br />park improvements. A list of thee~e priorities aryl their r~ follows. <br />1. ~o~ri8e a safe eaviroz~aieat within the existing park system for the <br />safety and well~einq of the park users. Priority should be given to <br />updating the storm water nm~ff system at Idaho/Spelling. Other areas <br />of comers are existing outdated play equipment, sues, pond <br />perimeter treatmPSits and pathway surfacing. <br />2. drove maintenance of existing <br />which Falooaz Heights residents c <br />to increasing funds for such <br />de~arxi. Specific areas include <br />seasonal treatment. Priority <br />evaluating curr+ertt an3 proposed <br />facilities to provide an environanerrt of <br />an be proud. Priority should be given <br />maintenance to keep up with current <br />upgrading turf areas, landscaping arr3 <br />should also be given to managing and <br />practices. <br />3. Pi new vark building should replace the vandalized ~ curr+ently <br />~~ f located within Ctcmnmity Park to meet the needs of the residents. <br />Program feat~irers should include restzoams, a warmitxl shelter, a picric <br />facility and kiteyen. <br />4. Develop a bicy~cle1pedestriaa trail avstem to connect existing park <br />facilities and to link Falcon Heights to ether adjacent municipalities. <br />Priority should be given to using existing riots-of~y and wide <br />shoulders. Further develo~srt. shall include separate bicycle and <br />pedev-trian trails, a signage system and the ct+eation of informational <br />modes. <br />5 . Upgrade e~d~; *7 narks to meet the needs of the residents b~a_~eci upon <br />the needs arxi demarx3s analysis. Priority should be given to upgrading <br />Idaho/SnellinI and University Grove Park to cx~lement the facilities <br />at C7ommmity Fork. Refer to Q~apter 5, Facility Iag~rvvemerrts, for <br />individual park improvements. <br />6. Develop potential park land for inclusion into the Overall park syste2a. <br />Priority should be given to first developing Garden, then T.i rr3 i g and <br />finally Fblwell parks. Preserving natural open space and supplying <br />facilities to key service areas not adequately served should be the <br />goal behind such development. <br />• <br />
