MEMORANDUM To: Members of the Planning Commission CC: Heather Worthington, City Administrator; Peter Lindstrom, Council Liaison From: Deb Jones, Staff Liaison Subject: Planning Commission January Meetings Date: January 21, 2004 Happy New Year, Planning Commissioners! We have two important Calendar items this month: 1. Tuesday, January 25, 7:00 p.m. Regular Planning Commission Meeting: CANCELED! • 2. Saturday, January 29 Planning Commission Training -required! 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Twin City Co-op Conference Room The training date is the one we agreed on back in November, so I hope you have had it on your calendars. It should be most interesting! The instructors, Phil Carlson and Desyl Peterson of Government Training Service, have designed a customized land use workshop for us, concentrating on the areas that raised the most questions and concerns last year. You should have received the agenda by email; a paper copy is enclosed. The Mayor, the Council and Heather and I will also attend, which will make a nice size group. The training will take place at Twin City Co-op. Next week we'll let you know where in the building you should go and other details. There will be coffee and refreshments and a midmorning break. You will have plenty of opportunity for questions. We should be done by 12:30 at the latest. Because you have the training on Saturday and no other official business, we have canceled the regular scheduled meeting of the Commission on Tuesday the 25th. Enjoy a free evening! Coming next month is consideration of the new Farmer's Market use permit. Staff will probably recommend changing this use from interim to conditional because the first two seasons have worked out so well and the Market is proving to be a wonderful community asset. If the Commission chooses to recommend this to the Council, code amendments will be necessary in addition to the permit. Complete information will be forthcoming in February. At this time, no other official business is expected, so we will also wind up the discussion on Chapter 9 on February 22. Please contact me or Heather if you have any questions about the workshop or any other Commission business. We'll see you next Saturday!
