Elk River, Minnesota <br />• • Outdoor storage is typically a conditional use and only occurs in our most intensive <br />commercial district, light industrial district, and medium industrial district. -Michele <br />McPherson, Director of Planning, City of Elk River <br />• Ministorage allowed in C3 (Highway commercial district) as a conditional use, <br />"provided that the use is on unplatted land outside the urban service district." <br />• In the industrial districts, outdoor storage accessory to a principle use and ministorage <br />are allowed as conditional uses <br />• In the business park (BP) district, wazehousing is added to the above conditional uses, <br />as long as the underlying use of the land is light industrial. <br />Bloomington, MN <br />• "Warehousing is a permitted or conditional use in a number of our zoning districts. A <br />seazch for warehousing (search within Chapter 19) will give you the districts that <br />allow that use" -Becky Schindler, Planner, City of Bloomington <br />• Wazehousing is permitted in IP Industrial Pazk, I-1, I-2, and I-3; warehousing is <br />conditional in CS-0.5 Commercial Service district. <br />• Bloomington has a section of code giving very specific rules for self-storage (indoor <br />and outdoor) <br />• Storage as a principle use (except for junkyards) is allowed as an interim use in the I- <br />2and I-3 industrial zones <br />• Self-storage (including mini-storage) is allowed as a conditional use in I-3 and I-1 (in <br />• the latter only as part of a Planned Development. <br />Chanhassen, MN <br />• From Bob Generous, City of Chanhassen: "Warehousing is a permitted use in our <br />industrial districts and a conditional use in our fringe business district. Outdoor <br />storage requires a conditional use, and may only be permitted in our industrial and <br />commercial districts. Following is our only standard for outside storage: <br />Section 20-308. Screened outdoor storage. <br />The following applies to screened outdoor storage: <br />(1) All outdoor storage must be completely screened with one-hundred percent <br />opaque fence or landscaped screen.
