Planning Commission
2/4/03
Item 3
ITEM: Recommendation of Ordinance Providing for a Farmer's Market Interim
Use Permit at 2025 W. Larpenteur
SUBMITTED BY: Deborah Jones, Zoning and Planning Coordinator
REVIEWED BY: Heather Worthington, City Administrator
EXPLANATION:
Summary:
In late 2002, the Twin Cities Co-op Federal Credit Union approached the city with a request
to allow a Farmer's Market at their location at 2025 W. Larpenteur Avenue, in the rear
parking lot.
At a Community Meeting held on November 25, 2002, 80% of the 15 attendees expressed
approval of the idea. The Credit Union and the St. Paul Farmer's Market presented
information at the meeting and took questions. (A detailed account of the meeting is attached
• to this staff report). Issues of traffic and noise were addressed. In December, the citywide
survey received an overwhelmingly positive response on the Farmer's Market:
2. The city has been asked to consider allowing a weekly farmer's market at
2025 Larpenteur Avenue (Twin Cities Co-op Federal Credit Union). This would
replace the one currently held at Har Mar.
