This month's only item of business is a minor amendment to the zoning code
concerning what may be put in a compost pile. The details are in the packet.
• There will be a public hearing (the first of the year!) on this proposed code amendment,
and the Commission will need to vote on a recommendation to the City Council. It is
essential that the Commission have a quorum to take this action, so please contact staff
immediately if you will be unable to attend.
Regarding February's workshops:
• The variance we were expecting did not materialize, although we are certain to have
at least one variance in the upcoming building season, going by recent years.
• The Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity matter is on hold at the recommendation of the City
Attorney, pending the receipt of an actual application of some kind and a concrete
plan. We have been in contact with the University, and the word is that this is the
only fraternity house they anticipate providing space for on the Falcon Heights
campus; it is not a harbinger of more to come. We can't be certain this one will go
forward either, so our attorney recommends holding off on any zoning work for the
time being.
This packet is also being sent to you by email. If you have any questions or concerns,
please contact me or Justin at City Hall.

HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
~~,~ PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
