FALCON HEIGHTS
2077 W.LarpenteurAvenue
Falcon Heights, MN 55113-5594
email: mail@ci.falcon-heights.mn.us
website: www.ci.falcon-heights.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
•
r~
u
To: -Members of the Planning Commission
CC: Justin Miller, City Administrator;
Laura Kuettel, Council Liaison
From: Deb Jones, Staff Liaison
Subject: Planning Commission Meeting on June 26, 2007
Date: June 22, 2007
Phone - (651) 792-7600
Fax - (651) 792-7610
The regular meeting of the Commission will be held this coming Tuesday evening at the
usual time. There are no official agenda items, but we will have a workshop on the draft-
to-date of two major portions of the new Comprehensive Plan. This workshop may be the
best (possibly the "only"- depending on future business that may come up) opportunity
you have as a group to discuss this material in the formative stages of the draft, so it is
important for you to attend.
Your packet contains a copy of the drafts we'd like you to look at and discuss. Please see
the staff report on page 1 of the Comp Plan packet for more details.
At the workshop I will be giving a presentation on some staff thinking about how Falcon
Heights could address the need for additional housing projected by the Metropolitan
Council for our community between now and 2030. I will also pass along information
from Active Living Ramsey County on how we can incorporate good health into our
planning. The rest of the workshop will be an opportunity for you to brainstorm on the
elements of the plan as they are taking shape.
For additional reading on the Comprehensive Plan process and the expectations we have
to meet, I highly recommend the Metropolitan Council website. They have an abundance
of information and tools, including a handbook that has been very helpful to us.
This packet is being sent electronically to everyone, and on paper only to those who
requested it. If you did not confirm that you want a paper packet, but you find you need
one, please contact staff and we'll make sure you get one.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or Justin at City Hall.
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
,._ PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
