CITY OF
FALCON HEIGHT 2077 W. There is a variance on the agenda. You will hold a public hearing and then discuss and
make a recommendation to the City Council, which will make the final decision. A quorum is
• essential! Please let us know right away if you will not be present.
The applicant seeks a variance to waive the one foot setback required for fences where private
property abuts a public right of way. In spite of copious advance information she had her fence
constructed too close to the right of way and wants a variance so she can leave it there. You need
to know that there has been some unhappiness in the neighborhood about this situation and a
history of conflict between the applicant and some of her neighbors. However, the staff feel that
the zoning side of this is straightforward, and we are recommending denial. We hope you will
keep the focus on the zoning aspect. Complete details are in the packet.
Comp Plan Workshop
After the meeting there will be an opportunity for you to workshop the Comp Plan draft-to-date.
We took so much time with the slide show in June you didn't have much of an opportunity for
discussion. If needed, we will try to schedule another workshop in September. There's a lot
here to read, including the whole S.E.H. document. Enjoy!
Actual approval by the Planning Commission and Council cannot take place until after the
statutory period of review by adjacent municipalities, school districts, etc. We expect to submit
our draft to these other jurisdictions by the end of the year, so your work on this is likely to
continue for some time.
Remember, the Fair is on; you'll need to allow extra time to get here. We have tried to
communicate to everyone concerned that the front parking lot is to be reserved for City business
that evening. See you Tuesday!
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
