CITY OF
FALCON HEIGHTS 2077 W. Larpenteur Avenue
Falcon Heights, MN 55113-5594
email: mail@ci.falcon-heights.mn.us Phone - (651) 792-7600
website: www.ci.falcon-heights.mn.us Fax - (651) 792-7610
MEMORANDUM
To: Members of the Planning Commission
CC: Justin Miller, City Administrator;
Laura Kuettel, Council Liaison
From: Deb Jones, Staff Liaison
Subject: Planning Commission Me g on January 22, 2008
Date: January 18, 2008
Welcome to our two new commissioners, Meredith Anderson of 2280 Folwell and
Duane Hasegawa of 1750 Albert!
The regular meeting of the Commission will be held this coming Tuesday evening at
7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Please notify staff as soon as possible if you are
unable to attend because we do require a quorum. There are two items of business.
• 1) Elect a commission chair for the year
2) Review the Commission standing rules.
The primary responsibility of the commission chair is to preside over the meetings.
Generally the chair is someone who has already been serving on the Planning
Commission, not one of the new commissioners. The term is for one year. Please be
thinking about whom you might wish to nominate or if you would be willing to accept a
nomination to serve as chair this year.
We have not reviewed the standing rules in several years. Most of you probably do not
even have a copy! But since the city administrative manual is in the process of being
thoroughly updated, this is a good opportunity to take a look at this document and see if
any changes need to be made. You will notice that actual practice has been a bit simpler
than the written rules in some areas. Do we need to change the practice or adapt the
rules? The general planning commission policy document is mostly established by state
statute and city code, but it is a good idea to review it as well and point out anything
that catches your attention.
As of today we are still assembling the comp plan draft's many maps and figures so it is
not quite ready to post on the website. I will notify you as soon as it is available.
Please call or email me if you have any questions about the meeting or any of the
materials in the packet.
Have a good week! See you Tuesday!
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
~~~ PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
~'
