Larpenteur Avenue
Falcon Heights, MN 55113-5594
email: mail~ci.falcon-heights.mn.us
website: www.ci.falcon-heights.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
To: Members of the Planning Commission
CC: Justin Miller, City Administrator;
Laura Kuettel, Council Liaison
From: Deb Jones, Staff Liaiso~ ny
Subject: Planning Commission Me~e%ting on February 26, 2008
Date: February 22, 2008
Phone - (651) 792-7600
Fax - (651) 792-7610
'The regular meeting of the Commission will be held this coming Tuesday evening at
7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Please notify staff as soon as possible if you are
unable to attend because we do require a quorum for approval of the standing rules,
tabled from January. For your information, a copy of Sikkink's Seven Motion System is
• attached. To our surprise it could not be tracked down on the Internet; the only known
copy is in city files! It is intended to allow more flexible process than Robert's Rules of
Order.
The major part of the meeting is reserved for a preliminary review of the draft of the
comprehensive plan, now available on the website. Notice was sent to all of you earlier
this week with the link. The city's approval timetable has been moved up due to
recommendations from the Metropolitan Council. Your public hearing is now scheduled
for March. Please see the staff report for details.
We hope you will have read the whole plan by the time of the meeting, but we expect
you will want to focus mostly on the first half, which includes the vision statement,
projections for growth and the land use plan. I will offer a staff introduction and
summary when you get to this agenda item. You may either have your full discussion
on camera or confine the meeting discussion to a question and answer period followed
by adjournment to workshop. Staff will leave that up to the commissioners.
Because the document is very large and still in the draft stage we hope you will be
willing to download it for reading. However, we'll be happy to make color copies of any
sections you request. We will, of course, provide a complete color copy of the draft,
including any changes made before the public hearing, to all commissioners in March.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or Justin if you have any questions.
Have a good weekend! See you Tuesday in the newly redecorated Council Chambers!
•
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
~~~ PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
