The challenge for Falcon Heights will be to find room <br />for this housing in a community that is fully developed with no significant vacant land <br />and limited land appropriate for redevelopment and infill. The City's strategy to meet <br />this challenge will be to support redevelopment that adds medium to high density housing <br />in the Larpenteur corridor as opportunities arise. (Please see the Larpenteur Corridor <br />section for detailed discussion.) <br />The other significant challenge for Falcon Heights will be to preserve the quality and <br />character of its mid-20th Century neighborhoods. The well-maintained cottages, ramblers <br />and ranch-style dwellings behind green lawns on tree-lined streets have a "retro" charm <br />that, with the convenient location of the City, makes Falcon Heights a desirable place to <br />live. However, by post-1990 suburban standards, the lots, homes and garages are <br />relatively small, and today's residents desire more living space.
