No. R-93-28 <br />CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />C O U N C I L R E S O L U T I O N <br />Date: May 26, 1993 <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION'S <br />FINDINGS AND CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE MANUAL <br />BRINGING THE CITY INTO COMPLIANCE WITH THE FEDERAL AMERICANS <br />WITH DISABILITIES ACT <br />WHEREAS, the city's Human Rights Commission at the May 18, 1993 <br />meeting studied the completed Americans with Disabilities Act Program <br />Self-Evaluation Review form; and <br />WHEREAS, the commission approved a set of findings confirming the <br />areas where the city already complies with ADA requirements and <br />proposed policy changes to bring additional areas into compliance; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the commission unanimously voted to recommend that the <br />city council adopt the findings and approve the policy changes; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the city council of the City <br />of Falcon heights, that the following findings and policy changes <br />relating to ADA compliance be adopted as recommended by the Human <br />Rights Commission thus bringing the city into compliance with ADA <br />statutory requirements: <br />1. All city services, programs and activities have procedures in <br />place to ensure accessibility to people with all types of <br />disabilities; <br />2. Disabled persons are not excluded from participation in any city <br />services, programs or activities, and free special accommodations <br />are available to those who request them; <br />3. The city has approved funding for a TDD device to communicate by <br />telephone with persons with hearing or speech impairments; <br />4. The city has approved funding for all necessary structural <br />changes; <br />5. All city functions have procedures in place to provide <br />interpreters, readers, assistive listening devices or auxiliary <br />aids as necessary for meetings, hearings, interviews, <br />• conferences, public appearances and in other contexts; <br />
