No. R-91-50 <br />• CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />C O U N C I L R E S O L U T I O N <br />Date: October 23, 1991 <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN <br />TIDE COUNTYWIDE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLANNING <br />WHEREAS, the economic vitality of all areas within Ramsey <br />County is essential to the long term viability and success of the County as <br />a whole; and <br />WHEREAS, to insure the economic health of Ramsey County, the <br />Ramsey County municipalities and the Metro East area, it is essential to <br />cooperate, coordinate and avoid duplication in order to assure the common <br />interests of all concerned; and <br />WHEREAS, cities have primarily focused on economic development <br />activities within each of their own communities; and <br />WHEREAS, there is also a need to look beyond municipal and County <br />.boundaries for cooperative economic development solutions; and <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey County is fully developed, compact in size, and <br />limited in public resources; and <br />WHEREAS, cooperation is one key to becoming more effective in our <br />economic development efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff Representatives of the cities of Arden Hills, <br />Falcon Heights, Maplewood, Mounds View, New Brighton, North St. Paul, <br />Roseville, St. Paul, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights,~White Bear Lake, and White <br />Bear Town, and Ramsey County, the Suburban Chamber of Commerce, and the Metro <br />East Development Partnership have been meeting to discuss issues of common <br />interest related to economic development in Ramsey County; and <br />WHEREAS, these meetings have led to a dialogue which. may result <br />in the development of goals and priorities for economic development in Ramsey <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Staff Representatives wish to secure the support and <br />active involvement of the elected officials; and <br />WHEREAS, the planning process is designed to guide the economic <br />development efforts in the mutual best interests of the County as a whole and <br />member cities while not limited local choices; <br />• <br />
