CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />• Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Regular Meeting of the City <br />Council of Falcon Heights, Minnesota was held on July 25, 198. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Eggert, Councilmembers <br />Chestovich, Ciernia and Hard, and the following were absent: Councilmember <br />Baldwin. <br />Mayor Eggert introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 81~-25 <br />IUT~TORIZATION TO COMMENCE EMINENT D(?MAIN PROCEEDINGS <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 117.011, the City of <br />Falcon Heights is authorized to acquire, by condemnation, property needed for <br />a public purpose; and <br />WHEREAS, by appropriate resolution, the City of Falcom Heights has <br />determined the need for a Development District to revitalize the currently <br />blighted commercial area of the City located at the Snelling/Larpenteur <br />intersection of the City of Falcon Heights; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to said redevelopment effort the City has engaged <br />in negotiations and is seeking to finalize a development agreement with a <br />private developer for the northeast quadrant of the Snelling/Larpenteur <br />intersection; and <br />WHEREAS, the developers plans incorporate the parcel of land now occupied <br />by a service station at the northwest corner of Larpenteur and Aroma for purposes <br />of constructing facilities, parking and access which appear to be integral <br />components of a successful redevelopment effort; and <br />WHEREAS, the developer has been unsuccessful in negotiating a private purchase <br />of said service station; and <br />WHEREAS, the developer has requested that the City condemn the service station <br />for inclusion in the proposed project, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT KESOLVED THAT the City of Falcon Heights finds that <br />the exercise of its eminent domain powers to acquire the service station at the <br />northwest corner of Aroma and Larpentur is for a public purpose, to wit, the <br />revitalization of the commercial hub of .the City of Falcon Heights. <br />The motion for the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Chestovich and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof; Mayor Eggert, Councilmembers Che~s#,gvich and Hard, and the following <br />voted against the same: Councilmember Ci ~n~i~~ /'1 <br />WHEREUPON, said resolution was decl~a.r~c~/dnky~~ese~and adopted. <br />• <br />awaxsyu v • L~(j(j vt v, l'1. afi` , <br />ATTES s <br />Dewar B.
