Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a spgcial meeting of the City Council <br />of the City of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, was duly called and held at the <br />City Hall in said City on the 19th day of September, 198l~, at 7:00 o+clock p.m. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Eggert, Councilmembers 3a.ldwin, <br />Hard, Chestovich and Ciernia, and the following members were absent: None. <br />Member Ciernia introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 84-,33A <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTYNG ROSEVILLE + S PROPOSAL TO <br />IACATE A REGIONAL SPEED SATING FACILITY ON THE <br />WOODVIEW SITE <br />h~EREAS, the Metropolitan Council has determined that there is a need for a <br />l~OO~neter artifically refrigerated Speedskating Rink in the Metropolitan <br />Area, and <br />WHER~:AS, the Metropolitan Council is seeking proposals for a Speedskating site <br />and implementation program, and <br />WHEREAS, the Roseville Ad Hoc Citizens Speedskating Committee has selected a <br />site in the City of Roseville, and <br />WHEREAS, this site is strategically located in the Metropolitan area with <br />excellent access from I-3SW, I-35E and 36, and <br />WHEREAS, the largest concentration of speedskaters is in the City of St. Paul <br />and northern suburbs with this area producing e9.g.ht of the twelve local speed- <br />skaters currently on the national team, and <br />WHEtt.EAS, there are few metropolitan facilities in the northern suburbs as compared <br />to other areas. <br />NOW, ~RE;F'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Falcon Heights supports the City <br />of Rosevillets proposal to locate a regional speedskating facility in their <br />community, with the stipulation that the facility be located on the Woodview site. <br />3E IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be provided to the City <br />of Roseville. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />L'ouncilmember Eggert and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted <br />in favor thereof: Mayor Eggert, Councilmembers-Baldwin, Hard, Chestovich and <br />Ciernia, and the following voted against the same:' None. <br />iniHEREUPON, said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />-~~.~_ <br />RONALD C.
