CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of the City of Falcon Heights, Minnesota was held on-the 9th <br />day of March, 1983. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers <br />Chestovch, Eggert, Larson and Ciernia, and the following were absent: None. <br />Councilmember Ciernia introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 83-7 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE LEGISLATURE <br />TO ENACT LEGISLATION ELIMINATING UNEMPLOYMENT <br />COMPENSATION TO VOLUNTEER FIRE AND RESCUE MEMBERS <br />WHEREAS, Falcon Heights depends on the services of part-time Fire and <br />Rescue volunteers, and <br />WHEREAS, the members of the volunteer Fire and Rescue Department are <br />c~m'p~nsatedfor-their services, and <br />WHEREAS, the State Department of Economic Security honors unemployment <br />compensation claims of individuals who terminate their participation in the <br />Department, and <br />• WHEREAS, this practice complies with neither the spirit or intent of <br />employee rights, and <br />WHEREAS, this practice adds an unnecessary burden to Cities, <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that Legislation be enacted that eliminates <br />or greatly reduces the liability of a City for unemployment compensation <br />claims by volunteer fire and rescue members. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Councilmember Eggert, and upon a vote being taken the follow- <br />ing voted in favor thereofs Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Chestovch, <br />Eggert, Larson and .Ciernia,. and the following voted against the same:- None. <br />WHEREUPON, the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />~~ l..
