CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />• Pursuant to due. call and notice ther-eon, a special meeting of the <br />City Council of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, was held on the 7th day of <br />September, 1983. <br />The following members. were present: -Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />members Chestovich, Eggert, Larson and Ciernia, and the following were <br />absent: None. <br />Councilmember Ciernia introduced the following res:©iuton and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 83-34 <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN <br />TO RECOGNIZE AND GUARANTEE THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS <br />OF ALL PEOPLE IT GOVERNS <br />WHEREAS, members of B'Hai Assembly in Iran are systematically <br />being denied their basic human rights including the freedom of religion, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Iranians in this. country and the community enjoy the <br />protection of all the basic human rights, and <br />WHEREAS, the government of Iran shares the same responsibility <br />• as alI governments to guarantee the basic human rights of-all people, <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Falcon Heights unconditionally <br />condemns the persecution of the B'Hai Assemsbly in Iran, and <br />The City of Falcon Heights urges the Islamic Republic of Iran to <br />again recognize and guarantee the basic human rights of all the people <br />it governs. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Counclmember <br />Larson, and upon a vote being taken the following voted in favor thereofr <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Larson and Ciernia, and the following <br />voted against the same: Councilmember Eggert. Councilmember Chestovch <br />abstained. <br />WHEREUPON, the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.. <br />Q. ~ 1 <br />Willis C.
