CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />• Pursant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of the City of Falcon. Heights, Minnesota, was held on the 9th <br />of November, 1983. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers <br />Larson, Ciernia, Chestovich and Eggert, and the following were absent: None. <br />Mayor Warkentien introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 83-37 <br />A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT <br />LIMITING INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL BONDS <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Falcon Heights is concerned over <br />the welfare of its community and citizens, and <br />WHEREAS, industrial and commercial bond financing enables the City <br />to expand its tax base by providing additional facilities for the citizenry, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, such commercial or industrial projects result in added <br />employment and dampen the severity of economic downturns, and <br />• WHEREAS, a Bill is currently before Congress which would limit such <br />financing and thereby affect the ability of the City of Falcon Heights to <br />finance not only industrial/commercial development projects but also many <br />other public facilities, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Falcon <br />Heights that the City Council conveys its strong opposition to any proposed <br />legislation that would restrict industrial/commercial revenue bond financing <br />to Minnesota's Senators and Representatives in Washington, D.C. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Councilmember Larson and upon a vote being taken the following voted in <br />favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Larson, Ciernia, Chestovich <br />and Eggert, and the following voted against the same: None. <br />WHEREUPON, the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />-~ <br />Willis C.
