CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of 8~e City of Falcon Heights, Minnesota was duly called and held at <br />the City Hall in said City on Wednesday, March 25, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. <br />-' The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers <br />Steele, Brown, Eggert and Larson and the following were absent: None. <br />Councilmember Larson introduced the following Resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 81-4 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE TO <br />PASS AN ENABLING LAW TO IMPOSE AN AMUSEMENT <br />AND ADMISSION TAX NOT TO EXCEED 3% WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />WHEREAS, the City of Falcon Heights has an area of 2.28 square miles <br />of which approximately two-thirds of this City is non-taxable; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Falcon Heights provides street access, policing <br />and numerous other administrative services related to the non-taxable areas, <br />and including replacement of storm sewer; and <br />WHEREAS, the Governor for the State of Minnesota has imposed certain <br />freezes and cut-backs in funding of Local Government Aids; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council, in the Comprehensive Plan, has <br />required the City of Falcon Heights to address itself to capital improvement <br />plans on streets and storm sewers which is of an extensive and financial <br />burden; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights is desirous <br />of complying with such directives and in doing so has reviewed all avenues to <br />fund these improvements and the conclusion was to impose an amusement and <br />admissions tax not to exceed 3% within the City of Falcon Heights. <br />NOW THEREFORE, the City Council. of the City of Falcon Heights is <br />hereby requesting the Minnesota Legislature to pass an enabling law for-the <br />City of Falcon Heights authorizing-.the Council to pass an ordinance authorizing <br />an amusement and admission tax not to exceed 3% within the City of Falcon <br />Heights. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Councilmember Brown and upon a vote being taken the following <br />voted in favor thereof: Councilmembers Steele, Brown, Eggert and Larson <br />and the following voted against same: Mayor Warkentien. <br />WHEREUPON, the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />.~C.~-4~ C,L~ ~ 'mot -~ <br />Willis C.
