CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council <br />of the City of Falcon Heights, Minnesota was held on the 24th day of March, 1977 <br />• The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen ~31ack, <br />Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra and the following were absent: None. <br />Councilman Ecklund introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 77-12 <br />A RESOLUTION RELATING TO DEFERt~TENT OF SPECIAL ASSESS- <br />I~iENTS FOR PERSONS 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND ESTAB- <br />LISHING INTEREST RATES <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 435.193 to 435.195 of 1974 authorizes the City of <br />Falcon Heights, upon proper application, to defer the payment of special assessments <br />against any Homestead property owned by a person 65 years of age or older for whom <br />it would be a hardship to make the payments, and <br />titi'HEFiEAS, Section 435.194 authorizes the Municipality to establish an interest <br />rate to be added to the def erred assessment which shall be payable in addition to <br />the deferred assessment, and <br />titi'HEREAS, the City Council has determined that the deferral of assessments <br />should be granted to any person other rise qualified who shall file with the C1erk- <br />Administrator and County an application claiming that the payment of the annual <br />installments of the assessment, or assessments, would be a hardship to them. <br />• NOW THEREFORE HE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights <br />that assessments of $300.00 or more against arty Homestead property owned by a per- <br />son 65 years of age or older for whom it would be a hardship to make payments be <br />deferred upon submission of an appropriate application signed by the qualified <br />person. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the interest as established at the time of the <br />adoption of the assessment roll per annum shall be added to the def erred assessment <br />and shall be payable in accordance with the terms and provisions of Minnesota <br />Statutes 435.195. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilman Labalestra and upon a vote being taken the following voted in favor of <br />the Resolution: Mayor ti~Jarkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra <br />and the following voted against the same: None. <br />ti'JFiEREUPON, said Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />~~ <br />,, <br />~~ ~~~' <br />~; <br />.dILLIS C.
