~.~ . t <br />VILLAGE OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Village <br />Council of the Village of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, was held on the 13th day of <br />December, 1973. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, <br />Ecklund, and Stone, and Councilwoman Stocker, and the following were absent: <br />None . <br />Councilwoman Stocker introduced the following Resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #73-38 <br />A RESOLUTION TO THE COMMITTEE Oid SPORTS AND CULTURAL <br />FACILITIES WHICH WAS CONDUCTING A HEARING REGARDING <br />THE PROPOSED DOMED STADIUM <br />WHEREAS, The Special Committee on Snorts and Cultural Facilities conducted <br />a hearing on the proposed Domed Stadium to be erected on the Minnesota State <br />Fairgrounds and on the Campus of the Institute of Agriculture in the Village of <br />Falcon Heights, Minnesota. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the <br />Village of Falcon Heights, that it is definitely or~oosed to the 'erection of <br />said stadium in the Village of Falcon Heights for the following reasons: <br />1. Subject to a survey conducted in the Village of Falcon Heights in <br />September, 1973, the question was `asked: <br />__ "You. may have heard of St. Paul Mayor Cohen's proposal <br />to erect a Domed Stadium on the Fairgrounds, do you <br />approve or disapprove?" <br />Seventy-nine per cent (79;x) of the residents answering the survey sated that <br />they would appose a stadium built in the Village of Falcon Heights. <br />2. A Domed Stadium erected in the Village of Falcon Heights would create <br />hazardous traffic conditions, because at this time :'the Village does not have <br />adequate roadways for ingress and egress to a facility of this magnitude. <br />3. The Village of Falcon Heights does not have in existance the <br />supporting facilities. i.e. Sanitary Sewer, Storm Sewer, Water or Policing <br />facilities. <br />The Village of Falcon Heights is also opAOSed to having any taxes levied <br />for a Domed Stadium. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded <br />by Mayor Warkentien, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted <br />in favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, and Stone, <br />and Councilwoman Stocker, and the following voted against the same: None. <br />Whereupon, the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />
