• No. 00-15 <br />City of Falcon Heights <br />COUNCIL RESOLUTION <br />Date: July 14, 2000 <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING 2001 RAMSEY COUNTY CORRECTIONS CONTRACT <br />WITH NORTHWEST YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES <br />WHEREAS Northwest Youth and Family Services has been providing Diversion Services to <br />juvenile offenders for the past 25 years; and <br />WHEREAS these services have consistently been provided in a cost effective, community-based <br />model involving collaboration with local law enforcement departments, the Ramsey County <br />Corrections Department and the Ramsey County Attorney's Office; and <br />WHEREAS the recidivism rate for young persons served through this program is consistently <br />around 16 percent; and <br />• WHEREAS 329 young people and their families were served by this program in 1999 and 360 <br />young people and their families were served in 1998; and <br />WHEREAS local municipality monies are provided to supplement the cost of these services; <br />and <br />WHEREAS a Youth Intervention Program Grant is received from the State to additionally fund <br />these services; and <br />WHEREAS we wish to continue to have these issues addressed in a timely manner with <br />emphasis on early intervention with acommunity-based setting. <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: <br />That we, the City of Falcon Heights strongly encourage the County Manager and the County <br />Board to continue to provide funding at the same level in 2001 as in 2000, the Diversion Services <br />provided through Northwest Youth and Family Services. <br />BE IT ALSO RESOLVED: <br />That the County will recognize the importance of these services and the local partnerships which <br />enable them to be provided in such a comprehensive and cost effective manner, thereby <br />benefitting greatly the workload of the Ramsey County Corrections staff. <br />• Adopted by the Falcon Heights City Council, this 12th day of July, 2000. <br />
