• <br />RESOLUTION 2003-12 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Falcon Heights has been reviewing the needs of the radio <br />communication system that provides emergency services to police, fire and emergency medical <br />agencies in its jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Radio Board, as a result of legislative changes, has the <br />authority and resources to provide financial assistance to local units of government in the <br />metropolitan area that plan to participate in the regional 800 MHz digital trunked communication <br />system; and <br />WHEREAS, special legislative authority has been given to Minnesota counties to issue <br />bonds for the purpose of designing, constructing and installing the infrastructure, facilities, and <br />equipment necessary to participate in the regional system; and <br />WHEREAS, federal funds have been appropriated and made available through the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety to supplement local and state funds for the purpose of <br />participating in the regional system, for which metropolitan area local governments are eligible; <br />• and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of Falcon Heights has determined that its participation in <br />the regional system would improve its interoperability among its various agencies and with other <br />jurisdictions for purposes of mutual aid and emergency medical services, thus improving public <br />safety, as well as the entire region's ability to respond to weapons of mass destruction incidents; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Falcon Heights <br />intends to proceed with planning for the development of an upgraded radio communication <br />system, with the intention of participating in the regional system, and that the Metropolitan <br />Radio Board be notified of the City of Falcon Heights' intention and request any state or federal <br />financial incentives that may be offered to local jurisdictions. <br />Adopted, unanimously, by the City Council of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, <br />on July 23, 2003. <br />Movcd by: Talbot Approvcd: <br />Susan L.
