Minutes <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />August 14, 1995 <br />Present <br />Jackie Benson <br />Greg Scheafer <br />Nancy Wickhem -Chair and Secretary <br />Carol Kriegler -Parks and Recreation Director <br />Absent <br />Movie Nicholson <br />Steve Schugel <br />Carol Wiesberg <br />John Hustad -Council Liaison <br />Guests <br />• Sheila Shullow <br />Peggy Lynch <br />Ramsey County Presentation. <br />Guest Sheila Shullow, a representative from Ramsey County Citizen <br />Communication Task Force, gave a brief presentation to the commission <br />outlining the county's strategic planning process and vision statement <br />regarding parks and open space. This collaborative process is part of the <br />Home Rule Charter, and incorporates all levels of government, consumer , <br />non profit groups, business and citizens. This partnership has the <br />responsibility for carrying out the vision created on behalf of the entire <br />county. The task force has identified critical issues relating to parks and <br />open spaces, and has developed a vision statement that is being shared with <br />other cities. A copy of this statement and related documents were <br />distributed to the commission. <br />Tree Planting Program <br />Guest Peggy Lynch, Director of Friends of the Parks and Trails, spoke to <br />the commission about their tree program. This program is in it's fourth <br />year, with approximately 250 to 300 trees being donated to Ramsey County <br />
