Chuck Long <br />Minutes By: Ann Davy <br />Present: Patrick Dolan, Jim Evans, Chuck Long, Bill Maertz, Ann Davy <br />Excused Absence: Laura Kuettel, Denise Deen <br />1. Meeting called to order 7:00 PM <br />2. Approval of agenda <br />. 3. Approval of May 10, 2004 minutes <br />4. Director's Report <br />a. New staffing model for Parks and Public Works Position: <br />Maertz announced his acceptance of the Director of Parks & Recreation <br />position for the City of Elk River. His last day will be June 30, 2004. <br />The City is searching for a Public Works Director. Ann Davy will <br />increase hours to 33% time and will work with the Park Commission. <br />The City also plans to hire a second front office person in the next few <br />months. Long inquired about the Park Commission taking on more of a <br />leadership role. Maertz agreed and suggested the projects to focus on <br />were the development of the trolley path, building a recreation center <br />with Falcon Heights Elementary, and maintaining our presence in <br />Community Park. Evans asked about adding another Park Commission <br />member as was suggested at a previous meeting. Maertz replied that <br />Heather Worthington was planning to send a letter to search for a new <br />member. <br />b. Hockey lights at Curtiss Field: <br />The neighbors around the park have had issues with the Quartz lights <br />and have asked about purchasing new lights. Evans inquired about the <br />• use of wood poles for new lights, but Maertz received bids for steel <br />poles from Muska Electric Co. The bid came in at $8,824.00, which <br />includes removal of the old lights and poles and installation of 3 <br />
