be installed after the tree and planting beds are installed. Park benches, trash
receptacles and the gazebo will be installed after Labor Day.
Davy met with Carol Kriegler to discuss signage at Curtiss Field. Carol is
currently working on some designs. The plan is for three signs to be placed
around the park. One sign would be on the south-west corner of the park.
Long suggested the sign be placed close to Snelling Ave. so that it is visible
from the street. A second sign would be placed on the north-west corner of
the park near the gazebo. The third sign would be placed at the entrance to
the park on W. Iowa Avenue. When meeting with Carol Kriegler, Heather
Worthington mentioned to her the idea of coming up with an additional city
logo that would be more of a cartoon-type character. Kriegler suggested we
contact Jim Rickard of J. Rickard Designs. The character would be used on
various flyers. Dolan and Long both agreed that the new logo should not
replace the old logo on letterhead, but should be used mainly by the parks &
recreation department.
2. Public Works Director Update
Greg Hoag was hired as the Director of Public Works. Greg comes from the
City of Little Canada where he was the Park Maintenance Supervisor for 10
years. He will begin working on August 16tH
• 3. Recreation Update
The Ice Cream Social was very successful. Approximately $900 was made on
ticket sales. The Twin Cities Co-Ops Federal Credit Union donated $500 to
the Friends of the Park Fund at the Ice Cream Social. Long requested the
contact information for the bank so that he could write a letter of thanks.
Soccer camp, a program that was added this year, ran last week and went
well. There were sixteen children registered between the ages of 6 - 12.
Babysitter training begins this week for children ages 11 - 15. Five people are
registered for the class which is taught by a Red Cross Instructor.
Evans inquired about the parking situation for the Fair on the SE corner
because of the construction. Long thought that more alternative parking would
be found North of the corner. Dolan asked when Fair signs would be placed
throughout the City. Davy heard maintenance discussing the signs during the
week and thought they would begin putting them up next week.
Meeting ended at 7:30 p.m.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Ann Davy. If there are any corrections or
additions, please contact Ann Davy by phone at 651-917-1287 or by email at
ann.davy@ci.falcon-heights.mn.us.
