MINUTES
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
JULY 1 1, 1994
PRESENT: ABSENT:
Carol Weisberg Allan Weinand
Steve Schugel
Morrie Nicholson
Jackie Benson
Nancy Wickhem
Carol Kriegler, Parks & Rec Director
Jan Gibson Talbot, Council Liaison
D-1. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS
Support was voiced for both Allan Weinand and Nancy Wickhem to serve as
chairpersons. The item was tabled due to Allan's absence. It was not known whether
Allan was interested and willing to accept the appointment.
D-2. ANNUAL ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Carol Kriegler reported on arrangements in place for the Ice Cream Social. Stomp N'
Dixie is scheduled to provide musical entertainment and a dunk tank is reserved for
the evening. The local Chamber of Commerce and Falcon Heights/Lauderdale Lions
Club will have representatives at the social to help serve. Commission members will
sell tickets and operate the dunk tank. Firefighters and coaches will serve as
"dunkees".
D-3. TIME-IN PLAYGROUND PROGRAM REPORT
Carol Kriegler and Nancy Wickhem gave a brief report on the status of the Time-In
program. Attendance has been about 20 or 30 kids coming and going throughout a
daily session. Financial contributions have totaled about S 140.00 so far. It was felt
that it was still too early to be pessimistic about the voluntary contribution method for
support of the program. It was suggested that a barometer be employed to
communicate the current level of support and continuing need.
