The Commission agreed, but also expressed <br />interest in continuity among the parks.. <br />Plantings for Grove park will wait until spring, at the suggestion. <br />of Linda Treeful, the city forester. She looked at the vegetation along <br />Coffman St. and feels that some of the trees are worth saving, but most <br />of the trees and shrubs are not.- She will be asked to make a second <br />evaluation of which trees to protect and save. <br />The issue of .the tennis bangboard was revisited, following specific <br />requests from two families. At this time, the Commission prefers to not <br />install a bangboard, based on the number of complaints about the old <br />one, the volume of opinion expressed by the community against the <br />replacement with a new one, the potential safety issues of a large <br />expanse of wall (especially adjacent to the hardcourt area) and the <br />maintenance issues arising from the inevitable graffitti. However, to <br />remain responsive to the desires of the neighborhood, the Commission is <br />willing to reconsider the issue in the future, should the above factors <br />change. In view of this, Carol K. will get an estimate of cost. <br />D-3. Election of officers. Following the resignation of Carol H., <br />Carol W. nominated Jyneen as chairperson of the Commission. As there <br />were no other nominations, Jyneen accepted the position, and will <br />continue as secretary. <br />D-4. Other business. <br />The ice cream social was a success. The Commission members <br />especially enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with the guests, with the <br />Lion's Club members offering to serve the ice cream. <br />Some vandalism has occurred at both Curtiss Field and the Community <br />Park. At the Community Park, the new pop machine was vandalized.
