MINUTES
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
December 9, 1991, 7 p.m.
Members Present: Carol Weisberg, Steve Schugel, Jeff Johnson, Carol Huso, Lloyd Jacobson,
Linda McLoon, Carol Kriegler, Parks Director, Sam Jacobs, Council Liaison
Members Absent: Dave Wickhem, Jyneen Thatcher
1. Changes in Commission Members
This was the last meeting for Jeff Johnson, who will be missed. Sam Jacobs will no
longer be the council liaison for the Parks and Rec Commission. We thanked him for his
support of our commission and its activities. He promised he would come and visit!
2. Park Maintenance
Carol K distributed a maintenance plan from another city for our perusal. We currently
have two full-time maintenance people, and various seasonal part-time staff. Currently things
get done when the staff gets around to it or when they are specifically asked. We need to set
some standards for such things as mowing, painting, cleaning bathrooms, general sweeping
etc. This will put us in a better position in preparing budgets. We need to establish a
maintenance plan and determine its costs. This will allow better planning for other projects.
It was again suggested to get a pop machine at the Community Park and maybe Curtiss
Field, with the city filling it. This would also be a source of revenue for our programs.
3. Winter Special Event
The "Carols" got together to plan a skating party at the Community Park, tentatively set
for Saturday January 18. This will include outdoor activities, refreshments, a treasure hunt,
. piped music and the like.
4. As the secretary had to leave, the exact time of meeting adjournment is not known at this
writing. I am sure the cookies and cider were consumed and a good time was had by alt.
Respectfully submitted,
~~~ ~~~~
Linda McLoon, Secretary
•
•
r
