'~ s <br />• MINUTES <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />January 11, 1988 <br />Members Present: Tom Montain, Kirsten Eckberg, Paul Nelson, <br />Pat Bush, Connie Lasser, Ardis Hutchins, <br />Paul Ciernia, Council Liaison <br />Members Absent: Bob Ge:1~rz <br />Visitors: Vince Wright, Jan Wiessner <br />1. Park Director Position <br />Jan Wiessner explained her recommendation for fiIling this position. <br />She feels that adding additional duties in the area of Cable TV work <br />as well as assisting with Community information would go well with the <br />current involvement with recreation. The suggested title would be <br />Director of Recreation and Community Services. A panel from the Park <br />and Recreation Commission will work with Jan in the selection and interviewing <br />process. <br />• <br />2. Rink Attendants <br />A suggestion was made that the rink attendants wear name tags. <br />Also, it was suggested that permanent signs be posted around or in the <br />warming houses indicating the hours the rink would be open. <br />3. Recommendations from Vince Wright <br />Vince was invited to present some views on park maintenance. <br />A) Idaho Snelling - Consider improving the lighting and wiring. <br />B) There is some confusion regarding our policy on broomball <br />and boot hockey. This should be clarified. <br />C) New doors for the warming house at Idaho Snelling. <br />The Commission will invite Vince back in the spring for views on <br />the park situation. <br />4. Winter Program <br /> Information will be sent out next week. Open gym at Falcon Heights <br /> Elementary School will consist of the east gym for pre-schoolers and <br />• the west gym for older children. <br />5. Gazebo <br />This is still being checked on. <br />
