• MINUTES <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />December 11~, 1987 <br />Members Presents Bob Gehrz, Karsten Eckberg, Paul Nelson, Pat Bush, <br />Connie Lasser, Leo and Jean Ohman, Linda McLoon, and <br />Paul Cisrnia, Council Liaison <br />Members Absent: Tom Montain, Ardis Hutchins <br />Grove Park <br />Pat Bush presented some of the plans for a proposed gazebo to be located in <br />the Grove Park adjacent to~,the skating area. Different methods were discussed <br />to allow this structure to also function as a warming hous®--partially or <br />completely enclosing it, using a heater, etc. Bob Gehrz will coordinate with <br />City Hall some of the details regarding these options/installation, etc. <br />Y~inter Program <br />There was some discussion regarding implementing an "Open Gym" at Falcon <br />Heights Elementary School again this winter. Increasing the amount of time <br />• and dividing the two gyms by age group were also discussed. <br />Rink Attendants <br />Pat Bush went over the winter skating program. The rink attendants have been <br />hired and all we need is cold weather for the ice to be made. 1~ie will see <br />about some netting or screen behind the hockey goals. <br />Park Director Position <br />At this point nothing concrete has been implemented to replace Pat Bush as <br />Parks and Recreation Director. The School District and Roseville Parke may <br />have possibilities if the Commission decides to merge sore of its programs. <br />City Forester <br />A graduate a~tudent at the University of Minnesota has been hired by the Gity. <br />Some of his services may be utilized by the Parks Commmission. He will be <br />able to set up a master plan for our park facilities,as well as order trees <br />and maintain them. <br />• <br />
