• <br />• <br />MINUTES <br />PLANNING CO~~IISSION 1VL~.;ETING <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1983 <br />The Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman <br />Al Stefanson. <br />Stefanson, Brown, Mead, ~F~allin, Chenoweth and Olson. Also present PRESENT <br />was Council Liaison Ciernia. <br />'~~'aldo, Bourquin and Nilsen. ABSENT <br />The January 10, 1983 Minutes were discussed. There being no corrections JANUARY 10, <br />or deletions, Phil Chenoweth moved, seconded by Don Mead, that the 1983 MINUTES <br />January 10th Minutes be annroved as presented. a~iotion carried APPROVED <br />unanimously. <br />Council Liaison Ciernia advised that the City Council approved Ordinance <br />#1911 as proposed by the planning Commission. <br />The Kuppenheimer Factory Store is locating in the old Bullseye site. <br />They have requested erection of a freestanding pylon sign 8' !~-3/1~'t x <br />18'. Falcon Center now has only one pylon sign and the city code allows <br />two. The present Bullseye sign located on the top of the building would <br />be scraped. The sign would be located perpendicular to Snelling. <br />Kuppenheimer has not spoken to the other retail merchants to determine <br />any objections. After a discussion concerning its exact location, Don <br />Mead moved, seconded by Jerry 1~Jallin, approval of the variance and <br />conditional use under the following terms: (1) that a site plan <br />with definite measurements from the boundary lines in both directions be <br />submitted for Council review; (2) recommend obtaining approval of the <br />placement of the pylon sign by the leasee--Uncle Bobs ~uik 6; and (3) <br />file for a variance and nay the appropriate fee. ?potion carried <br />unanimously. Council Liaison Ciernia advised the next Council meeting <br />is Thursday, February 10th. <br />Chairman Stefanson advised that no further word has been received on <br />the University of 1;4i.nnesota retirement housing. <br />Chairman Stefanson stated that at the March meeting a small subcommittee <br />should be appointed to work on the project of reviewing the comprehensive <br />plan and development guidelines for the Flower City property. Advantages <br />and disadvantages of certain types of development locating in Falcon <br />Heights could then be considered. <br />The Planning Commission continued work on rewriting the zoning ordinance <br />ORDINANCE <br />#19l~ <br />VARIANCE AND <br />CONDITIONAL <br />USE FOR <br />KUPPENHEIMER <br />FACTORY STORE <br />UOFM <br />RETIREiv'fENT <br />HOUSING <br />REVIEW OF <br />COMPREHENSIVE <br />PLAN FOR <br />FLOV~7ER CITY <br />PROPERTY <br /> <br />
