MIrNTEs <br />PLANNIIdG COr~.ISSIOr~ T~,EETING <br />MAY 2, 1983 <br /> <br />• <br />The Planning Commiss~_on was called to order at 7:30 P.I`i. by Chairman <br />Al Stefanson. <br />Stefanson, Nilsen, Bourquin, 01 son, Chenoweth and Geistfeld. Also present <br />was Council Liaison Ciernia. <br />Wallin, Mead and Broom. <br />The April 18, 1983 NL_nutes were discussed. There being no corrections or <br />deletions, Jim Bourquin moved, seconded by Erma Olson, that the April 18th <br />Minutes be approved as presented. Motion carried unanimously. <br />John Martin, 1775 Tat;;un, requested a variance to construct a 2I~' x 22' garage <br />to within two feet of the side lot line and five feet of the back lot line. <br />The garage will replace a single car garage damaged from the 1981 tornado and <br />water damage sustained from the Hermes, Hawkins and University properties. <br />Jim Bourquin moved, seconded by Harold Nilsen, that the variance request be <br />granted. notion carz~ied unanimously. <br />Donald Crowe, 1891 Albert, requested a conditional use to install a utility <br />shed in the rear yard. of their property. The neighbors have no objection. <br />Phil Chenoweth moved, seconded by Erma Olson, that the conditional use be <br />granted. T~otion carried unanimously. <br />Pt~ESENT <br />ABSF,1dT <br />APFsIL 18, 198; <br />T~NUTF,S <br />APPROVED <br />VARIATICE <br />JOHN r^~ARTIN, <br />1775 TATUI~i <br />CONDITIONAL <br />USE, DOrdALD <br />c Ro~~~;, 1891 <br />ALBERT <br />The Planning Commission reviewed and noted a letter dated April 6, 1983, from ZOrdIr1G <br />Carl Dale regarding his review of the proposed final draft of the business ORDINANCE <br />district zoning as well as Chairman Stefanson's reply dated April 2g, 1983• <br />After a thorough discussion of :1r. Dale's comments, the Planning Commission <br />agreed with I~Ir. Dale's suggestion regarding language in section 10.2(9) to <br />read: ~~Facilities for the wholesale and retail sales of garden supplies.~~ <br />Changes were also made in section 11.2(15) to read: Motels, motor hotels and <br />hotels and added in section 11.2 a new portion to read: (28) parkir~ ramps. <br />Chairman Stefanson moved adoption of Resolution 83-5. The motion was seconded <br />by Jim Bourquin. Motion carried unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION 83-5 <br />RESOLUTION <br />83-5 <br />RESOLUTION RECOT~~IENDING THE FALCON HEIGHTS CITY COUNCIL ENTEtc <br />INTO AN AGREEI~,ENT WITH CITY PLANNITJG CONSULTANT, CARL DALE, TO <br />COr•ZPLETE THE UPDATING OF THE FALCON HEIGI3TS ZONING ORDINANCE. <br />Jim Bourquin felt the City Council should obtain an estimate of costs from <br />TfIr. Dale for the ordinance updating. Harold Nilsen felt that Carl Dale should be <br />the planner engaged as he is familiar with the city's planning process. <br />Jim Bourquin moved, seconded by Phil Chenoweth that the Planning Comm fission <br />recommend to the City Council that B-l zoning be considered for the 5.2 acre <br />Hawkins parcel noting that section 11.5 should apply.
