Schwantes William Black <br />Jim Lammers Representatives of <br />Clark`s Submarine <br />Sandwich Shops <br />BY: Jim Lammers ~/ <br />ITEM J: Representatives of Clark Submarine Sandwich Shops presented their <br />proposal for the vacant Gulf 01 Station on .the southeast corner of Snelling <br />and Larpenteur. They requested 'a variance to the Falcon Heights Zoning <br />Ordinance No. 64, section ]4.J, signs. .The ordinance calls for a maximum <br />of ]00 square feet of sign area in a B-2 district. They proposed a sign <br />300 square-.:feet in area.' <br />It was moved seconded and carried by vote of four to two to recommend that <br />the CdunCil approved the application for variance. It was further noted- <br />that the parking provided under the proposal does not comply with section <br />]4.2 (2.8)e. There was feeling on the part of some members of the Planning <br />Commission that development of the.corner in this use might hinder potential <br />improvement of the business area through redevelopment. <br />ITEM 2: Brad Lemberg presented preliminary drawings of the new city park <br />located at Rosela~m and Cleveland. It was moved seconded and unanimously <br />carried that the'Planning Commission approve the design of the park in <br />concept subject to working out particular detail with the adjacent residents. <br />George Plant-indicated thatthere was concern on the part of the residents <br />regarding the buffer area along the east of the park, location of fencing,- <br />and easemen~'to provide access through the nursery area abutting the <br />southeast corner of the park. <br />ITEM 3: A proposed development of 325 dwelling units on ]2.6 acres north <br />of Hermes property on Larpenteur was_presented for general review..' The <br />deve3opment was. expected to cost approximately six mi.Ilion dollars. <br />ITEM 4: George Plant was elected Chairman and Jim Lammers secretary of the <br />Planning Commission. <br />
