Falcon Heights Planning Commission
Gentlemen:
I am unable to attend your meeting on October 10, 1972, but am
concerned with plans to rezone Lot 3, Block 1, Lindig`s 3rd Addition,
Village of Falcon Heights, from an R-I one family resident to an R-2
one and two family resident.
In 1967 I purchased Lot 1, Block 1, Lindig~s 3rd Addition and constructed
a dwelling with the understanding that all of the third addition was honed
as one family property. There was one apartment unit on the street at
that time, but I was assured by Mr. Lindig that no additional multiple
units could be constructed.
Multiple family units are not usually resident owned and occupants of
non-owned dwellings seldom have neighborhood or property interests.
If Mr. Lindig were to construct a double bungalow to owner occupy and
serve as a buffer between the one family residents on the street, and the
commercial property on Larpenteur Avenue, I could see some long term
value, but properties change ownership and I do not approve a rezone
situation. We need look no further than 1711 Lindig Street to see what
can occur when code changes are permitted for specific lots.
The driveways of all the dwellings in Lindigts Third Addition are
constantly being used as turn-arounds for occupants and visitors of the
current apartment unit. Adding an additional multiple unit would only
add to an already trying problem.
~tr~~~~~ ~-~~
Ma lm E. Sugden
1718 ~~ig Street
