Kellogg Blvd.
Suite 910
St. Paul, MN 55102
ATTN: Mr. Dan Soler, Traffic Engineer
Dear Paul:
The City of Falcon Heights is requesting that a temporary signal
be located at the intersection of Fairview and Larpenteur Avenues
as a safety measure. Prior to the installation of a traffic
signal, a three way stop may be necessary to assure safety during
this transition time. Let me explain why the city is making this
request.
As your staff knows, the Fairview and Larpenteur intersection has
been identified for traffic signals due to traffic volumes and
accident records. The county is scheduling this installation as
part of the reconstruction of Larpenteur Avenue. To date, the
city concurred with that plan.
However, recent events make it necessary for more traffic control
at this intersection. The reconstruction of Cleveland Avenue is
redirecting traffic onto Fairview as an established detour. This
causes more traffic at an already busy intersection. It also
creates more possibilities for accidents. There have been three
accidents at this intersection in the last three weeks on October
1, October 8 and October 19.
Thank you for your prompt consideration of this request. If you
have any questions or need additional information, please call
me.
Sincerely,
rf i•
1
Susan Hoyt
City Administrator
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
414 PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
