Steven D. Petersen (41
1720 Larpenteur Ave. W, #1D
Falcon Heights, Minnesota 55113
September 28, 1992
SEP 3 0 1992
Mayor Tom Baldwin
c/o Shirley G. Chenoweth
City of Falcon Heights
2077 W. Larpenteur
Falcon Heights, Mn 55113
Dear Mayor Baldwin:
I request that after the November 3, 1992 election the City of Falcon
Heights move its voting location from the Falcon Heights United Church
of Christ at 1795 Holton back to the Falcon Heights public school at
1392 Garden Avenue.
My reasons for this are:
1) This is a needless entanglement of state and church. When the
public school was closed, the Church of Christ generously offered
their facility free of charge and they should be thanked for that.
However, now that we taxpayers reinvested in the school and it is
open and functioning again, it should be used to its fullest potental.
2) The Falcon Heights public school is more in line with the Secretary
of State's guidelines:
A. Handicap Accessibility:
Both are handicap accessible, but Falcon Heights School has
more doors without thresholds. The Church of Christ's curb
indentation at the street is frequently and inadvertently
blocked.
B. Parking:
The Church of Christ's parking lot is across Garden Ave. so
in reality most voters park on the street.
The Falcon Heights School has a parking lot around the
building, making accessiblity for the elderly and
handicapped safer and easier.
