li cy p olicy p olicy p oky .p o i tcy p oky Polky Po Meeting Date: 1/13/92 Agenda Item: P 5 CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION ITEM DESCRIPTION: Response from the City of Roseville to the City of Falcon Height's June 24 proposal regarding discussions on alternative forms of "single city" government models SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator REVIEWED BY: EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: On December 28, 1992, the administrator received a letter from the Roseville City Manager stating Roseville's continued interest in discussing "possible benefits of cooperation or consolidation in the mutual best interests of each community." This letter is in response to a proposal that the Falcon Heights' City Council sent to the Roseville City Council on June 24, asking the Roseville City Council to participate in discussions about possible models for a "single city" government. The letter from Manager Sarkozy explains that the VISTA 2,000 planning process has occupied Roseville's time and priorities over the past months. The Falcon Heights administrator responded to the letter by suggesting that she and Mr. Sarkozy outline a timetable for developing some rough models of governance for the councils to review. The two councils will be involved in determining that timetable. Staff recommends that when a timetable is prepared that the city notify the citizens, who participated in the city's April, 1992 community forums. An article will also appear in the early March newsletter to update residents on the status of these discussions.
