Meeting Date: 3/24/93 <br /> Agenda Item: P 4 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Resolution calling for an interim ordinance <br /> for the change in use or district of the <br /> commercial zoning code <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> REVIEWED BY: Discussed with Peter Bachman, City Attorney <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> Over the past nine months the city staff, planning consultant and <br /> planning commission have been studying the city's commercial <br /> zones to update them for the future and bring them into <br /> conformance with the city's comprehensive plan. Staff <br /> anticipates that this will be completed sometime in 1993. <br /> During the study period it is important that the city's <br /> commercial zones and zoning code uses remain constant. This will <br /> guarantee that the study and its resulting legislation is all <br /> encompassing. Dealing with individual requests for changes in <br /> districts and uses would detract from this intent. <br /> In order to assure that the city will not be presented with <br /> amendments requesting changes in the commercial zoning districts <br /> or commercial uses during this process, staff is recommending <br /> that the council adopt an interim ordinance, in compliance with <br /> the state statute 462.355 Subd. 4, on these activities until the <br /> commercial study and resulting legislation is completed. <br /> Staff is preparing the precise description of the purpose, extent <br /> and duration of a proposed ordinance in consultation with the <br /> city attorney. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> A Statute 462.355 Subd. 4.
