The duties of the planning commission are: to guide <br /> future development of land, services, and facilities <br /> so as to ensure a safe, pleasant and economical <br /> environment for residential, commercial, and public <br /> activities; and to promote the public health, safety, <br /> and general welfare of the community. These duties <br /> are to be carried out by: <br /> a. establishing community objectivies and <br /> policy; <br /> b. making recommendations to the council <br /> regarding petitions and applications for <br /> rezoning, special use permits, etc. <br /> c. reviewing and making recommendations on <br /> all matters relating to or affecting the <br /> physical development of the city. <br /> 5 <br />
