CITY OF
FALCON HEIGHTS
2077 W. LARPENTEUR AVENUE FALCON HEIGHTS, MN 55113 -5594 PHONE (612) 644 -5050 FAX (612) 644 -8675
26 July 1993
MEMO
TO: Mayor and Councilmembers
FROM: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator
RE: Summary of workshop discussion from July 22, 1993
Key points from the workshop that affect staffing and budgeting decisions over the
next year:
Work with the fire marshal to expand his job description to include
community service activities like checking on citizens' in need, making
deliveries, patrolling the parks. This is not to make the job less vulnerable if
budget constraints demand its reduction or elimination but to utilize an
employee's talents in a worthwhile way for the benefit of the community.
Become better informed about the opportunities and constraints on future
redevelopment of the southeast corner of Snelling and Larpenteur.
Develop more short, informative videos for cable viewing.
Fine -tune the residential zoning to avoid variance requests for garages and to
reflect the different neighborhood styles.
Work toward negotiating a reduced police cost for 1994 and to terminate
the current contract and request proposals for police service for 1995 to
allow the council to evaluate community public safety needs and make
contract improvements that better define service, provide formal
representation to police department and clarify liability.
After four years of several major park and infrastructure capital projects,
reassess the city's capital fund allocations and project needs during 1994
including allocating some general tax levy money toward infrastructure
improvements. (See attached "quick" analysis.)
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
TREE CCEY USA
