'continued. page SI
Summary of Findings
and Conclusions: Complements the city's comprehensive plan by:
(1) removing substandard housing
(2) eliminates blight
(3) eliminate a non conforming land use
(4) Improves the entrance to city hall and Hewlett Packard
(5) Will provide additional green space and landscaping
(6) Relocates two tenants to standard housing
Summary of
Environmental
Conditions:
The site is level with a dilapidated dwelling and two outbuildings. Its removal will
create some temporary dusty conditions that will be controlled during removal. After
the site is cleared, it will be landscaped which will improve the area and enhance
green space and the environment. It will provide more open space for drainage..
Project Modifications
and Alternatives
Considered:
(1) Rehabilitating the structure to make it standard was considered except for the
extent of its deterioration and incompatibility with surrounding land uses.
(2) Removing the structure and replacing it with a commercial building but the 10,000
square foot parcel was not large enough to accommodate parking or increased traffic
flow in the area which has a large employer to the immediate east and is adjacent to
the city's emergency services. The additional open space will enhance the existing
city hall site, provide additional space for future city use and enhance the areas
business and public facilities.
