4 <br /> MINUTES <br /> SEPTEMBER 14, 1993 <br /> PAGE 3 <br /> CITY OFFERS EARLY RETIREMENT OPTION TO ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES UNDER <br /> MINNESOTA STATE LAW <br /> Hoyt briefly reviewed the early retirement options the city has <br /> the right to offer to city employees and recommended that council <br /> consider offering Option 1 which provides an increase in the <br /> pension formula at no cost to either the city or the employee. <br /> She explained that only one employee, the city clerk, qualifies <br /> for, and is interested in the program. Following a brief <br /> disucssion Gehrz moved that Option 1 of the early retirement <br /> program be offered to qualified employees. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> PROPOSED RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE CITY CLERK POSITION AFTER <br /> RETIREMENT OF PRESENT CLERK <br /> Hoyt explained that due to state law governing the early <br /> retirement options, and the council offering Option 1 to the city <br /> clerk, the city council is required to adopt a resolution <br /> maintaining the position after her departure. The proposed <br /> resolution certifies that maintaining the city clerk's position <br /> is critical.
