CURBSIDE PICKUP OF MORE WASTE: Work with waste collectors, <br /> regulatory agencies, and other communities to explore and <br /> implement ways and means for improving curbside recycling pickup <br /> of all wastes. Areas of focus include hazardous waste, all paper, <br /> all plastics. <br /> SPECIAL MEETINGS ATTENDED BY MEMBERS: <br /> Ramsey County recycling coordinators' meetings <br /> Mall of America tour of recycling and solid waste facilities <br /> SURVEYS: Ramsey County Solid Waste Division followed up on the <br /> original Solid Waste Commission commercial recycling survey. The Solid <br /> Waste Commission and Ramsey County developed goals that Ramsey <br /> County will coordinate, if necessary, in establishing and <br /> enhancing Falcon Heights' commercial recycling programs. <br /> Of the 52 business establishments, 30 are pursuing recycling <br /> efforts. <br /> ACTIVITIES /DISCUSSIONS <br /> Reviewed and recommended selection of contractor for curbside <br /> pickup of recyclables <br /> Worked with new recycling contractor to coordinate improved <br /> curbside pickup <br /> Election of officers <br /> Reviewal of tonnage reports <br /> Recycling program high participation rate and volume of recycled waste <br /> continues to exceed Ramsey County /Met Council abatement goal <br /> Contacted Ramsey County to establish /enhance commercial <br /> recycling program with Falcon Heights businesses <br /> Exchange of minutes with New Brighton Environmental Quality <br /> Commission <br /> Name change of Solid Waste Commission to reflect new rolel <br /> Solid Waste Reduction Week, Sept. 27 -Oct. 2, 1993 <br /> Newsletter December, 1993 <br />
