MINUTES <br /> DECEMBER 16, 1993 <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> MAYOR AUTHORIZED TO SIGN PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR PROPERTY AT 2061 W. <br /> LARPENTEUR <br /> Hoyt explained that the next step in proceeding with the <br /> acquisition of the property at 2061 W. Larpenteur is to sign the <br /> purchase agreement for $114,000. She also reviewed the process for <br /> relocation of the tenants in the building. Baldwin stressed that <br /> the purchase is being funded primarily by a CDBG grant and will not <br /> become a burden to city taxpayers. Following the discussion Jacobs <br /> moved that the mayor be authorized to sign the purchase agreement <br /> with the owners of 2061 W. Larpenteur for $114,000 to be funded <br /> from the 1993 CDBG funds and TIF funds as needed. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> APPROVAL OF GAMBLING APPLICATION FROM CELEBRITY BOWL CHARITIES, <br /> INC. FOR PULL TAB OPERATION AT FALCON LANES <br /> Council thoroughly discussed the application from Celebrity Bowl <br /> Charities, Inc. to conduct charitable gambling (pull tabs) at <br /> Falcon Lanes. Concern was expressed regarding the possibility of <br /> pull tabs being made available to children, policing of the <br /> operation, etc. Following the discussion Ciernia moved that <br /> Resolution R -93 -42 be adopted with the stipulation that the police <br /> monitor for possible sales to youth and that local charitable <br /> groups be informed of the fact that funds may be available for <br /> distribution in the future. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> RESOLUTION R -93 -42 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PREMISES PERMIT FOR <br /> CELEBRITY BOWL CHARITIES, INC. PULL TABS <br /> OPERATION AT FALCON LANES, 1550 W. LARPENTEUR <br /> DISCUSSION OF POSSIBLE WAYS TO ASSIST DISABLED CITIZENS WHO HAVE <br /> ACCESSIBILITY PROBLEMS AT BUS STOPS FOLLOWING SNOW STORMS <br /> As requested by council at the November 24th council meeting, staff <br /> presented ideas for arranging for snow removal from bus stops that <br /> are routinely used by disabled individuals. Following the <br /> discussion, council agreed that a display ad be placed in local <br /> papers inviting disabled persons who rely on routine transit <br /> service and are impeded by lack of snow removal, contact the city <br /> about the bus stop they use. City staff will then attempt to have <br /> the snow removed by a nearby business owner or resident on a <br /> regular basis. Neighborhood watch captains will also be asked to <br /> assist in this project by arranging for clearing of these stops. <br />
