Assist city inspectors in ensuring compliance with permit, licensing <br /> and inspection requirements; in the absence of the building inspector, inspect <br /> roofing, siding, driveways and private sewer connections; general surveillance <br /> to ensure that contractors operating in city have proper license or permit; <br /> work with city inspectors and city contractors to coordinate activities. <br /> Recommend annual public works budget and monitor expenditures. <br /> STAFF MANAGEMENT <br /> Serve as the first line supervisor of the park /public works staff to achieve <br /> effective performance on assignments. Responsible for prioritizing, assigning, <br /> directing and inspecting work. <br /> Evaluate and keep accurate records regarding staff performance. <br /> Recommend training and development activities to improve performance. <br /> Maintain accurate records of activities undertaken, work accomplished, <br /> equipment and material used, problems encountered and inspections <br /> conducted. <br /> Maintain operating procedures consistent with OSHA laws and regulations <br /> and implement and measures necessary to avoid and minimize accident <br /> potential. <br /> KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> Possess a thorough practical knowledge of the maintenance of park facilities, <br /> buildings, equipment, streets and storm sewer systems. Painting, plumbing, electrical, <br /> carpentry, welding and metal working skills sufficient to perform general building and <br /> equipment maintenance and repair work. <br /> Knowledge of sanitary sewer systems and lift stations sufficient enough to perform <br /> routine maintenance and cleaning. Possess or the ability to obtain a collection <br /> systems operator's license. <br /> Possess the ability to evaluate the efficiency and economy of ongoing maintenance <br /> operations and select the most appropriate technique for delivering services. <br />
