Meeting Date: 5/25/94 <br /> Agenda Item: P 4 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) committees and annual <br /> conference <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> Policy committees <br /> The League of Minnesota Cities has restructured and retitled its policy committees to <br /> permit participants to pursue specific interests in smaller task forces. The process, <br /> which begins with establishing four committees to discuss a wide variety of policies <br /> affecting cities, will result in the legislative agenda for 1995. <br /> Each city may have one representative on each committee. (The administrator is on <br /> the fiscal future of the city.) Membership is requested for two years. All committees <br /> meet during regular business hours. The four committees that will meet at least twice <br /> during the summer with additional task force meetings as desired are: <br /> Improving local economies <br /> growth management and land use <br /> boundary adjustment <br /> housing <br /> transportation <br /> economic development <br /> telecommunications and information systems. <br /> Improving city service delivery <br /> environmental mandates <br /> elections and ethics <br /> open meetings and data privacy <br /> government innovation and cooperation <br /> personnel and pensions <br /> Improving the fiscal future of the city <br /> financing city government <br /> financial management of cities <br /> Improving community life and resources <br /> cultural diversity <br /> crime <br /> youth and senior services <br /> parks, recreation and libraries <br /> education <br />
