Meeting Date: 9/14/94
Agenda Item: c 2
CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Approval of wage increase for election judges
SUBMITTED BY: Carla Asieson, Administrative Assistant/City Planner
EXPLANATION /SUMMARY:
For a number of years, Falcon Heights' election judges have been paid minimum wage ($4.25
per hour) for their election workday duties and training time. An informal poll of neighboring
communities shows that most are paying at least $5.00 per hour, with some larger cities paying
up to $7.00 per hour.
Although most (if not all) of the election judges serve for reasons unrelated to the paycheck they
receive, an increase would seem to be in order. There are funds in the election budget to cover
this modest increase. If approved, this wage increase would be effective for both the primary
and general elections.
ACTION REQUESTED: Approval of wage increase for election judges from $4.25 per hour
to $5.00 per hour, effective retroactively to September 1, 1994.
g :WOMf j N 1 `:in:: E=.:!N fib:_ii:WO e'
