Meeting Minutes
September 12, 2011
Present: Peter Lindstrom, Rebecca Montgomery, Nina Semmelroth, Brian Goodspeed, Diane
Ross, Justin Miller
Absent: Ethan Wagner, Gretel Keene, Stan Sveen
1. Minutes of the August 8th meeting were approved.
2. Miller provided background on the Complete Streets policy and stated that approving it
would help achieve credit under the GreenStep Cities program. The commission
suggested a few changes, including adding more specific references to bike racks and rain
gardens. The commission recommended that it be forwarded to the city council for their
approval.
3. Miller distributed the Buy Local cards and explained that the program was up and
running. This program will also count towards the GreenStep Cities program.
4. Mayor Lindstrom explained that it might be a good idea to start thinking about how (or if)
the city would like to regulate wind turbines. The commission indicated interest in
investigating it, and asked Miller to provide examples from other communities.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
