5 Year Capital Improvement Plan
Deb Bloom and Kris Giga presented Council and staff with information regarding the 5 Year
Capital Improvement Plan. The items presented and discussed included Pavement
Management/Maintenance, Mill and Overlay recommendations, Crack Seal/Seal Coat
recommendations, Sanitary Sewer needs and Storm Sewer needs.
Special Events Ordinance
There was discussion regarding the creation of a special events ordinance for commercial
and/or retail entities. Council directed staff and the Planning Commission to look at and
present special event ordinance options with consideration for limitations on holding special
events during the time of the State Fair and the Back to the ‘50s car show. Council also asked
that the ordinance options consider the parking needs of businesses that might hold a special
event.
Storm Sewer Cleaning
The City’s storm sewer cleaning contractor is looking to start earlier this season. Council
directed staff to begin the 2012 storm sewer cleaning within the constraints of the already
approved 2012 storm sewer cleaning budget.
Commissioner Recognition Event
Council discussed the possibility of a City Commissioner recognition event. Staff will research
options and report back to Council.
May 2, 2012 Workshop Change
It was discussed that due to scheduling conflicts, the May 2, 2012, workshop will likely be
changed to May 9, 2012, at the conclusion of the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.
The workshop concluded at 8:30 p.m.
